Preto – a little piece of Brazil in London

I took fellow Brazilian food blogger Luiz to Preto Victoria back in the Summer.  I was craving to eat a proper Brazilian fare.  Preto serves authentic Brazilian Rodizio grill food. I’ve been to Preto Putney and Victoria many times and I like them both equally. The service is  outstanding. The staff is friendly and attentive. Preto is a churrascaria rodizio offering unlimited servings of great quality meat which are served in long skewers and carved at the table.
chicken hearts
up to 15 variety of meats being served
Wine chosen by Luiz , I also had Caipirinha – very nicely prepared – no added water!
‘nao'(no) if you want to have a break, ‘sim’ (yes) if you want to eat more meat
where the magic happens – rodizio  – the meat is slow-roasted in the BBQ
Beans – Brazilian way, Preto serves ‘Feijoada’ at weekends only.
Fried polenta
Onion rings, fried bananas, very fine fried potato- I agree with Luiz some of the hot side dishes could have been fresher
Plenty of vegetables and fresh salads choices
Deco at Preto (Victoria and Putney) are is nice, bright and modern. The atmosphere is vibrant and buzzing.

Preto is making it’s mark in the London scene with three branches in Victoria, Putney and now with a West End address. I can’t wait to go to the Leicester Square branch. Yes, I like Preto. It does hit the spot when I am desperate for Brazilian food in London.

Hey lovely, how does quality and choice compare to Rodizio Rico chain? x

Hey Kavey, I still love Rodizio Rico Islington over Preto, even though Preto has stepped up a notch lately. In my opinion and experience the meat quality is very good in both chains, but as buffet choice goes Rico Islington wins in quality and variety by a whisker. In my experience so far service is excellent in both. Preto is opening a branch in Wandsworth soon. I think they have world domination in mind!

    Hello Rosana!
I see Brazilian kitchen is full of all kinds of meats. May I ask, are there any traditional Brazilian dishes that could be considered vegan?

Unfortunately the chances of anything like this up north are near 0!

Hi Anon – I've been thinking hard but I can't think of one recipe that can be considered vegan, unless you change the ingredients to achieve it.
If I find any I will let you know.

Hey Scott, I know there are Brazilian rodizio restaurants around the UK: Liverpool, Glasgow, Chester, Aberdeen, Nottingham, Northampton and one soon to open in Birmingham. In Lincoln: Viela, let me know if you try it. I must stress I haven't tried any of them and I don't know the owners either. If anyone has been to any Brazilian establishments outside London please do let me know by email.
