Vienna: coffee experience with Nespresso and Riedel Crystal

The latest  Nespresso event took place in Vienna over a day and finished with an elegant gala dinner by “Bocuse d’Or” award winner, Austrian chef Thomas Dorfer. The event started with coffee and wine tasting presented by Paolo Basso, best sommelier of the world 2013 and Sensory expert Edouard Thomas.

The Coffee and wine have parallel similarities when comes to tasting, like description to explain their range profile. Like a fine wine, that ought to be savored from appropriate glass to maximise its nose and taste, coffee gain from being appreciated from the correctly designed vessel. Nespresso has partnered with  Riedel Crystal, glassmakers since 1756; family owned, committed to fine wine service to research, designed and produce two finest coffee glasses.

These two glasses maximise the Nespresso Grand Cru  sensory experience in perfect harmony.  The Reveal Collection, enhance the  that luxurious moment of anticipation when coffee is smelled and the anticipation of delicious mouth experience. Through the elegant glass which has the perfect balance bewteen weight, finesse and transparency.  Nespresso has a history of design cups; it has been proven that the characteristic crema, that tops an excellent coffee, serves not to hold in aromas, but to carry them above the cup for the olfactory pleasure.

The vessel shape is a vital tool in perfecting the coffee experience the same way as fine wine.  The Reveal Collection takes a step further in the enhancement  and pleasure of coffee drinking. The two new glasses, Mild for Nespresso Grand Cru (1-6) develops the freshness/acidity, lightness of the coffee and delicacy of the aromas, and increases the smooth/sweet perception  and the Intense, increases the overall intensity (aroma & taste) for Nespresso Grand Cru (6-10) . Both glasses have been developed  to increase and elevate the coffee drinking epxerience ro a new level.

 Maragogype coffee been – a new limited Grand Cru

Next master class was chaired by Alexis Rodriguez, green coffee quality and development manager at Nestle-Nespresso.  Nespresso is launching a new limited edition of the little known coffee bean, Maragogype a scarce green coffee that first appeared in the 1800 in the Brazilian state of Bahia. This is their first Special Reserve Grand Cru in two years.

Maragogype beans are giant, and yet delicate, an exquisite variety. It has been rediscovered by Nespresso. This limited edition will be available in their shops end of October 2014. Maragogype is a unique blend of four different origins, Mexican, Nicaraguan – the sweet, grassy and round; and Colombian and Guatemalan – that gives the fruitiness. The beans are roasted and grounded in a specific way revealing  layers of sensations and complexity.

A Limited Edition gift box including 2 Mild tasting glasses together with a sleeve of Special Reserve Maragogype Grand Cru will also be
available during the festive season, only available for sale at Nespresso boutiques at £28 + £10 coffee sleeve.
The Special Reserve Maragogype Grand Cru will be available for a limited period from 28th October at £10/sleeve.
