Prestigio – Chocolate and coconut cake

Prestigio cake is one of the well-known and loved Brazilian cake. Never fails to impress. It’s based on a chocolate bar by the name of Prestigio, the equivalent bar of chocolate in the UK is Bounty.

Prestigio – Chocolate and coconut cake recipe

Ingredients: 

2 cups flour
3 tablespoons of chocolate
3 eggs
2 cups sugar
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons margarine
1 tablespoon baking powder

Filling:
1 / 2 can of condensed milk
1 large package of desiccated coconut
2 cups milk

Topping:
1 / 2 can of condensed milk
1 / 2 tablet in margarine
2 tablespoons of chocolate

Decoration:
200 g of powder or chocolate shavings

1. Whisk the egg yolks and sifted sugar with the  margarine till it turns pale.
2. Add the milk gradually, alternating with the chocolate with the sifted flour and baking powder, lastly the whites mixing slowly without beating it.
3. Bake in pre-heated oven on greased and floured baking tray for about 30 mins.

Filling: in a pan add all ingredients (1 / 2 can of condensed milk,1 large package of desiccated coconut,
2 cups milk) bring them to boil stirring until it thickens. Do not leave unattended.

Topping: in a pan cooked all ingredients (1 / 2 can of condensed milk, 1 / 2 tablet in margarine
2 tablespoons of chocolate) cook all mixing non-stop until it thickens – you can see the bottom of the pan when you  stir with a wooden spoon. Do not leave unattended.

Method: Once cool, cut the cake in half, fill it with the coconut mixture, place the other half of the cake on top and  cover the whole cake with the chocolate topping.

Decoration:
Options-  decorated with whole cherries over the chocolate shavings or just granulated chocolate.
