Where to stay in Kensington?
The Kensington House Hotel is an excellent option. This modern four storey luxury townhouse with 41 en-suite rooms is located just off High Street Kensington making it ideal base to explore London. It’s a short stroll from Kensington Palace, its glorious gardens and easy reach of Central London with good transport connections.
The rooms are airy and well finished. Large windows, white crisp linen and impeccable service. Extremely clean and all the modern cons including free working wifi in all bedrooms and public areas. Nice Elemis toiletries, powerful hairdryer and room safe.

Kensington House Hotel is a four-star independent hotel. They don’t have a restaurant at the hotel. There’s a bar serving drinks for the hotel guests and where the breakfast is served in the mornings. The hotel blog is excellent for monthly updates about London and the hotel seasonal offers:

History of Kensington
The name Kensington was said to be first noted in Latin as Chenesitone as written in the Domesday Book of 1086. It was then interpreted as Kenesignetun, which according to Anglo-Saxon dialect, it means land of meadows. In 1396, another derivation of the name came out as Kesyngton. Much of the history of the borough was accounted in Domesday Book, which mentioned the place as originally a settlement of the Saxons. It was only in 1689 when the place became a royalty as William III transferred to the Kensington Palace—where the famous Queen Victoria was born in 1819. It was Queen Victoria who granted Kensington the “Royal Borough” title in 1901. Today, Kensington is now united with its neighbour—Chelsea, forming the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
Where to Go in Kensington, London?
Kensington in London offers plenty of options from fashion to art to sightseeing. As a matter of fact, Kensington has many tourist attractions to offer as one of the most recommended places to visit in London. If you’re a fan of the classical arts and architecture, the place houses the famous Kensington Palace, the Natural History Museum which is in tough competition with the Science Museum, the Royal Albert Hall and the Royal College of Music for music enthusiasts, the Royal College of Art, and the renowned Olympia exhibition hall which resides on Kensington’s western region. Holland Park is within easy reach, and there are lots of shops and department stores to choose from – This area is a shopping heaven for all pockets!
There are also two less-known small museums the 18, Stafford Terrace, a remarkably well-preserved house with original interiors and content. It’s a guide tour only, where you step back to 1899. Another hidden gem is the Leighton House Museum best for Oriental opulence, Victorian art and architecture. The famous Portobello Road and its market is also within walking distance.

If you want to enjoy good beer with top notch customer service, you can also visit the Britannia.
