Back in September, I visited my good friend Alice Adams in Rome, who happens to be a fabulous cook and food stylist represented in the UK by Style Department – Yes, that’s me – my day job
and that’s how Alice and I met years ago. Nowadays, Alice runs Latteria Studio, a creative space for food lovers and food types in Rome Trastevere, just around the corner from the train station.
I’ve meant to visit the studio since day one, but work and life got in the way. However, earlier this year I put a date in the diary for September (last month) for the Market to Table event at the
studio, a series of unique Italian food celebrations – a day of cooking, learning, and enjoying Italian cuisine, in particular, Roman recipes.

The day starts at Testaccio Market, just across the river from Trastevere, where ingredients and fresh produce are bought, and we experienced lots of food tasting in the market too. After that,
a short walk away is Latteria Studio, where coffee and freshly baked maritozzi by Alice were waiting for us. The six-hour-plus cooking event is exciting and hands-on. Plenty of guidance and expert advice from the creators of this series: the fabulous Alice Adams; home cook and food writer Rachel Roddy, cookery teacher Carla Tomasi – I was told she’s a pasta expert, unfortunately
on this occasion, we didn’t meet. There were lots of takeaways from the day which ended with a big feast with Italian wines. Recipes are emailed to each participant after the course.

Latteria studio is a hub of creativity and a beautiful food nook in Trastevere in Rome. Highly recommended if you are visiting Rome and are interested in Italian and Roman food. There are other
