London: 108 Brasserie ‘dish of the month’

I was invited to sample the new  ‘dish of the month’ at 108 Brasserie; honey-glazed veal cutlet caramelised shallots, Pommery mustard béarnaise. I really like the place!  I’ve been a few times in the past, and the service and food had always been excellent and last Thursday were not different.

I arrived at 6.30pm, a bit too eager for dinner one might say!  I headed to the bar to wait for my friend, who was delighted to come to 108 Brasserie as she like me, had already dined here in the past and loved it.

The bar was busy; luckily  I got the last table available.  This eatery is located in the Marylebone, an affluent part of central London, with an elegant cosmopolitan vibe.  The decor is harmonious throughout.

The best seat in the restaurant, in my opinion, is the round table in the far corner as yo enter the restaurant. A table where you can view all the goings on in the restaurant.

What a like about it is the consistency of great food and service – a marriage made in heaven.  They offer breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. The atmosphere is courteous, but at the same time friendly.
The tables are well presented too. I love linen napkins and real quality glasses and cutlery. It just makes the whole experience very special.

Nyetimber Classic Cuvée, NV England £11.50

Our dinner at 108 Brasserie

Home-made bread sourdough, soda bread, Guinness brown bread £2.50

Smoked salmon avocado £12

Seared tuna soy & ginger dressing, pickled walnuts £11

Honey-glazed veal cutlet caramelised shallots, Pommery mustard béarnaise for two £48 – the veal was light pink, fine texture, very juicy and smooth.  It was perfectly cooked as we ordered it medium-rare – that’s the way I like my meat.

Pulenta Estate La Flor Malbec 2015 Argentina   £9.50/glass
This wine went really well with the meat, an excellent suggestion by our waitress. It has a beautiful colour purple. This wine has aromas of red fruits like cherries and strawberries. It has some violet floral notes and hints of vanilla due to its ageing in wood. On the palate, it is vibrant and round with ripe tannins.

Lemon tart £7 – It was exquisite, lovely delicate  pastry  with a velvety lemon custard

Brown bread ice cream with caramelised walnuts and honeycomb £7 with dessert wine Château Levant (Sauternes) 2011 France £7.50 – the ice cream wasn’t too sweet, it was full of texture and was enhanced by the caramelised walnuts and the crunchy honeycomb.

They also offer a fabulous lunchtime menu at very reasonable prices: for Central London:
Available from 12 noon until 5 pm
Two courses – £17 per person
Three courses – £23 per person

November dish of the month is:
Honey-glazed veal cutlet caramelised shallots, Pommery mustard béarnaise for two £48. – It was a great dish; it will feed easily two ladies not sure if it will be enough for two males, sharing it, though….

Just looking at the photo's is making my mouth water. Unfortunately not living in London means we don't get such a good choice like this. There is some nice eateries in Derbyshire but not anything like this and not as much. Love the post x

Look absolutely lovely and what great value for a nice restaurant in central London too. I'll have to remember this for next time I'm in town.
