The Imperial, dining in style in Fulham

The Imperial
The Imperial is a stylish restaurant and bar set in a stunning Victorian building that has been refurbished in an elegant and contemporary style in Fulham.
As you enter the premises, it feels spacious and welcoming.  The place is divided into three ambient; the fully licensed bar is the focus of the first room. A striking wine hack hangs on the bare brick wall leading to the second area with more wooden tables and chairs where you can see the open kitchen and watch all the action.  The double glass doors lead to a sun-trap ‘garden’ furnished with sofas, a small herbs and vegetable area and a pretty  dinning all fresco area.
The Imperial open kitchen: chefs in action

They serve  breakfast, lunch, dinner or just drinks and snacks. Great place to work from with free wi-fi  or for meetings and  working lunches. They also have an upstairs very  roomy space for private functions and events.  They are children and dog-friendly.The Imperial’s menu caters smaller portions and healthy eating for children and adults. The kitchen is open from  9am – 10:30pm. So there’s always hot food available all the time. Their menu also caters for special diets, like vegetarians,  gluten-free and paleo, so nobody feels left out.

The dinner was organised by fellow blogger Giulia, who invited a group of very friendly bloggers to taste The Imperial’s new menu. The new menu is stunning and has a strong fine-dinning feel to it. Presentation and creativity using  seasonal and locally sourced ingredients with a definitely Nordic feel in some of the dishes. They still serving Sunday roast and share plates too, like the Schezuan glazed whole roast duck, spiced red cabbage, coconut rice broccoli, red pepper sauce.
Such a pretty dish: confit duck yolk with very light taste hay-infused egg white, pickled mushroom and chive puree
light dish, full of flavour : mackerel pickled cucumber, onion foam & egg crumble
excellent fish dish: wild sea bream, blackend pudding, leeks, cauliflower purée,  samphire & kale foam
fantastic main:  Pork shoulder black pudding chard beer & pearl barley jus
Love the coconut rice in this dish! not so sure it needed the red pepper sauce… Schezuan glazed whole roast duck, spiced red cabbage, coconut rice broccoli, red pepper sauce
creamy and just the right sweetness : chocolate pot, barley foam, barley crisp and  chocolate sorbet
