A Taste of Celebrity Cruises

What a full on week! I am loving all the events around the world cup and the festivities, but a break from that was very welcome when I got an invite to go to Taste of London, a foodie wonderland, a festival of great food and drink in the centre of London. In just under a hour Celebrity Cruises hosted a delectable food and wine matching at their stand.  Who doesn’t want to be treated like a celebrity? Well, I do!

On arrival we were greeted with wine, my choice was cool rose with strawberries notes, in a hot Summer’s evening that is my drink of choice.  Even before we could finish our aperitif,  the proceedings started and we were transported to the celebrity cruise land. Tasty looking food were laid in front of us and lovely wines were poured.  The colours of the liquids shining through the glasses made all very magical. We started with a delicate white wine,   elegant and fresh matching  with tones of melon went down very well with lightly spiced prawns and couscous.

Next we had a  Barbera D’asti , a Italian red from hilly region of Northern Italy,  low tanning and high acidity, dark cherry colour , sour cherry and vanilla undertones was the perfect match for the marinade yogurt lamb chops on a bed of sprouts and bacon. Next was  my favourite of the evening Biutiful, a delightful Malbec , a deep garnet-purple red with dark berry/currants aroma of medium tanning and crisp long finish perfect with barbecued red meat.  This is my kind of wine, strong that packs a punch!  That was showcase what to expect on board of a Celebrity Cruise. I was told that the ships are well equipped with 14 restaurants, various bars,  swimming pools, casino and endless entertainment, something for everybody!  I was also told that they travel all over the world and the latest  cruise to the Mediterranean  is unmissable. I am sold, what a dream!

After all the food and wine matching, we had a look around the fabulous Taste of London and found some excellent food and magnificent chefs around too.  Obviously, a place to be and to be seem, most important of all, it’s all about excellent food and drink. Some of the highlights:
