Basel Tattoo

Last year Basel Tattoo celebrated its 10th anniversary jam packed with a night of an impressive fireworks show, unforgettable musical and theatrical performances and even the Swiss Air Force Ambassador’s six F-5 Tiger’s flight over the arena. The 110,000 guests that had the privilege of being a part of this incredible night got to experience a show of a lifetime and something that they will surely never forget. For those who have yet to be a part of the Basel Tattoo and need some more information on what exactly Basel Tattoo is and some valid reasons as to why they should add to their bucket list, continue reading…

What is Basel Tattoo?

Basel Tattoo is an annual military tattoo show that is brought on by and performed by military bands from all over the world, popular musicians, display teams and of course tattoo formations in the beautiful city of Basel, Switzerland. The first one took place in the year 2006 and has since then grown into what is now the second largest military tattoo in terms of both performances and budget.

Who Can Attend?

There are typically around 110,000-120,000 people that are able to attend the actual Basel Tattoo performance inside the arena. However, if you are unable to attend the arena main highlights, there is also a parade and festival held in Basel for other viewers to attend. There are thousands of performers at each one where spectators can marvel at both musical and theatrical highlights throughout the entire production.

What Should You Expect at Basel Tattoo?

In the past years, Basel Tattoo has continued to nearly out-do itself with each proceeding year where performing acts from countries such as Australia, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand and many more come together in order to create a time that is truly unforgettable. You can expect highlights including Scottish dancers, an appearance from the U.S. Blue Devils International Corps, South African drums and bagpipes performers and the well-recognized Basel Tattoo Choir.

What Makes it so Special?

Basel Tattoo offers the chance for nations from all over the world to come together, unite and be part of something that is unique, special and an overall incredible time full of performances and formations. It is not only a great time of fun and celebration but also a time that allows for various militaries to be respected and appreciated in an extremely matchless way.
