One of my favourite British traditions is the Sunday roast. The other Sunday, I was invited to a fantastic ‘Soul Sunday’ at Madison, a restaurant with a very privileged location in the heart of the city of London by Bank Station.
Madison has a very modern and cosmopolitan feel to it with an open kitchen and an excellent bar. It boasts spectacular views of the London skyline. This rooftop venue is super stylish with a large terrace, in-house DJs, and live music. On Sundays, they have ‘Soul Sunday’, a delicious menu that includes roast dinner as well as other tasty-looking dishes, and we enjoyed live music between 15:00–18:00.
I just loved the whole experience—the breathtaking views, the service, the roast dinner, and the lovely live music by stunning Kate Trio, who sang everything from classical to soul, jazz, R&B, and pop.
Soul Sundays at Madison
Silky celeriac soup, wild mushrooms and olive duxelle with a crisp sourdough slice – was warming just what I needed on a cold November.
The roast dinner was fabulous!
Juicy Roast USDA beef sirloin nicely marbled extraordinary succulence and full of flavours; Yorkshire pudding was light and crisp, roast potatoes were excellent, cauliflower cheese, horseradish cream and another bonus, mistake of the kitchen was a most delicious macaroni cheese.
Desserts were good too. Chocolate & praline fondant, butternut squash & vanilla purée, milk ice cream, super gooey centre fondant was devoured as soon as it reached the table. The very smooth milk ice cream was delicious.
Baked Normandy Camembert, croutons, quince jelly – the ultimate comfort food finale.
We spent all afternoon eating, drinking, listening to live music and falling in love with London over and over again. I want to go back as soon as possible!
The place was buzzing on Sunday, a bit unusual for a city location on the weekend, but with so much to offer, I wasn’t surprised.
The prices are very reasonable, the service is friendly, and the venue is easy to reach. It is highly recommended.
