The Kitty Hawk, The Department Store of Dining, a bespoke culinary experience to be had under one roof and located at the heart of the city of London. It’s owned by Wright & Bell, a new enterprise inspired by different ways of exploring modern casual dining and drinking.
There’s a beautiful and sophisticated bar by the entrance, a casual all-day dining, a downstairs steak and seafood restaurant, a beautifully appointed cafe with its own entrance selling pastries, cakes, light meals and beverages They are catering to everyone’s taste and all day eating adventure.
The stunning interior is inspired by travel – think of the Wright Brothers who thought us to fly, the town Kitty Hawk in North Carolina became world-famous after the Wright brothers made the first controlled powered aeroplane flights, another inspiration comes from Alexandre Graham Bell, credited with patenting the first telephone. Special touches make this place elegant and approachable. The service is understated and friendly.
They source the best artisan products, ethically and sustainable fish and seafood, local farmers, the finest world wine, curated in collaboration with Rothschild wines, as well as cask ales and niche beers.
The meat is sourced from family owned Alec Jarrett & Sons, who rear Award winning West Country beef, dry-aged for 7-10 days and wet-aged for a further 28 days resulting in a 35-day aged, tender British steak.
This place is serving fabulous meals and wines. It is very much a crowd pleaser, there’s something for everyone. The evening we drop by the restaurant was buzzing with city types having business dinner and stylish after work drinks.
The meal at Kitty Hawk
Burrata was creamy and oozing when I cut into it, the braised lentils and sweet beetroot worked perfectly together- Italian burrata from Salerno, served with braised puy lentils, roasted beetroots, shaved radishes and heritage carrots, a good fresh starter.
Rump steak – 225g – super juicy and tender steak – cooked to perfection no runing blood and yet medium-rare.
Sides
Mac and cheese – superb, creamy and cheese-y
Roasted root vegetables in honey -a great alternative to chips
Wilted spinach with nutmeg – always a winner !
Confit duck leg cassoulet- slow-cooked cassoulet served with a whole confit duck leg, pancetta, smoked gammon knuckle, cannellini beans and a wedge of artisan bread. It was a good substantial dish. Flavoursome and the duck was falling off the bone, the beans we nicely cooked.
The Kitty Hawk Sundae – Scoops of Cotswold ice cream layered with caramel
sauce, vanilla bean cream and seasonal compote, served with chocolate
shards, hand-broken meringue and honeycomb – Ice cream, chocolate and Honeycomb – you can’t go wrong with this dessert.
Expect to pay for 3 course meal + wine around £140 (January 2017)

Ooo the mac & cheese, the sundae…I'd be in heaven. Their dishes look good and an overall nice experience.
What a gorgeous meal. That cassoulet is right up my street. In fact, I've not seen a cassoulet that looked this good since a trip to Carcassonne, the home of the Cassoulet!
Oh gosh the food looks just amazing. I have never eaten anywhere like this! Kaz x
To be fair I don't mind it being expensive if the food looks that good wow! I love the sound of the sundae and mac & cheese!
