An afternoon tea full of and twists surprising dishes, as well as traditional fare with a distinct  pleasurable tone. The  quintessentially English tradition of afternoon tea in the iconic surroundings of the Oscar Wilde Bar at Hotel Café Royal is a real treat for the senses and palate.  The building is ideally located just off Piccadilly in the heart of the Westend and nearby bright lights of Soho. The entire building has been sympathetically restored evoking the style and glamour of the past. Today it  houses an elegant 5-stars hotel, a well-being centre, restaurants, a very buzzing cafe andsumptuous bars including the Oscar Wilde bar, where I had the pleasure of having a wonderful afternoon tea.

“Profile 6″ chocolate and orange tart,  a silky and nutty Valrhona co-branded chocolate developed by Hotel Café Royal’s executive pastry chef Andrew Blas with the Valrhona team,  “Opéra 1865”- banana opera cake layered with passion fruit cream, absinthe Green Fairy macarons  those  are an homage to the hotel’s Green Bar, which is a room completely dedicated to absinthe complete with an absinthe fountain, and blackberry and apple crumble served on a flower mini pot, sweet! Homemade strawberry jam, clotted cream and a sharp sweet lemon curd for the scones, which were tucked in like little babies in a separate basket:  plain and golden raisins.
