Mid-century Modern Architecture Travel Guide East Coast USA – Maps

The book comprises a carefully put-together list of more than 250 must-see destinations organised geographically, from the Canadian border to the tip of Florida, with enticing photographs illustrating an incredible adventure.

The Mid-century Modern (MCM) is the design movement in interior, product, graphic design, architecture, and urban development from roughly 1945 to 1975. It is one of my favourite design styles.

Inside Mid-Century Modern architecture travel guide East Coast USA

This book’s focus is on the East Coast of the USA, also known as the Eastern Seaboard, the Atlantic Coast, and the Atlantic Seaboard, covering the coastal states that have shorelines on the Atlantic Ocean from north to south. This includes Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.

The Mid-Century Modern architecture travel guide East Coast USA size is functional and a perfect fit for a travel bag. The Flexi binding and the tactile modernist cover makes it easy to handle.

The book’s first chapter covers New England, followed by New York and New Jersey, then the Mid-Atlantic, the South, and finally, Florida, each chapter depicted with labelled maps, making it easy to find the buildings per area.

It features some of the biggest mid-century architecture names, including the richest and most unfamiliar regions in the development of mid-century modern architecture, located on the East Coast of the United States.

The book includes additional information (labelled maps) needed to find and visit each building. Some of them are houses so I would conclude that private buildings are a drive-by kind of experience.

My only criticism about the book is that the font could be a bit bigger. Despite that, this book is a feast to the eyes. The lovely images of the constructions put me right in the mood to think about a design-led trip.

It has a lot of information from each building that makes you never stop turning the pages. Even after putting the book down, I found myself picking it up to check out more details about the places listed in this fantastic guide.

I have a genuine case of wanderlust right now!
