The Breakfast Club revisited

I went to my first underground tea/brunch party back in January, The Breakfast Club, in Brixton.
There I meet Rachel, the host, and now and then we kept in touch. I always said if she ever needed help to give me a call and eventually she did. I got up early on a sunny Sunday morning in May and went to Rachels, who lives 15 mins from me.
When I go there, two hours ahead of the starting time,  Rachel and her boyfriend were prepping the tables for the 14 paying guests.
I was put to fry small and delicious coconut pancakes, butter the toasts for the cowboy, making tea, coffee, the usual topping up the drinks, collecting plates, washing up and mainly filling the dishwasher up. It was great fun and quite busy at times. It’s a lot of work and co-ordination involved. However,  Rachel prepped most of the dishes in advance.  Making life much easier. She was very calm and relaxed, the perfect hostess.  I know what you thinking, why would I want to work on a Sunday morning? It’s very simple I wanted to see  all the hard work that goes into a pop-up venture. It’s not like feeding your family and friends or a proper business. It’s strangers coming to yours to eat wholesome home-made food, paying for it and reviewing it.  Believe me it’s a hard work, but totally satisfying. Time really flew by.
The guests were lovely and the newest guest in pop up history, as far as I know, was a 6 weeks old baby. You can read more about my first visit at Rachels here.
Here is the story in pictures:

Wow! Looks amazing, I would absolutely love to see the background of a pop-up! Did it encourage you to do your own or put you off?

It's too much for me! Having paying guests and having your food in the spotlight. It's very personal. But saying that I love a challenge… No, I won't have one anytime soon…
